The Governance and Administrative structure of Niger State College of Education, Minna is made up of the Governing Council, Management and the Academic Board.
- Governing Council
The Governing Council is made up of representatives of a cross section of stakeholders. They include a Chairman to be appointed by the State Governor, Permanent Secretary (Planning Commission), Permanent Secretary (Ministry of Education), the Provost of the College, a member of the Academic Board of the College appointed by members of the Academic Board of the College, three other persons appointed by the Government, one from each of the three senatorial zones of the State, and a representative of the Local Community. The Registrar of the College is to serve as the Secretary of the Council. The Council is responsible for policy making and regulations in terms of programmes development and management of the College.
- Council’s Appointment and Promotion Committee
This is responsible for considering cases bordering on employments, promotions, transfers, disciplines and staff development and make recommendations to Council.
iii. Finance and General Purposes Committee
The Committee exercise control over the property and expenditure of the College and perform such other functions as the Council may from time to time delegate to it.
- Junior Staff Appointment and Promotions Committee
The Committee exercise control over the appointment and promotions of junior employees of the College.
- Management Committee
This Committee is made up of the Principal Officers of the College, namely; Provost, Deputy Provost (Academics), Deputy Provost (Administration), Bursar, College Librarian and the Registrar. They are responsible for internal policy evaluation and implementation.
- Academic Board
The board is responsible for all policy and decisions regarding academic affairs of the College. The membership of the Board is made up of the Provost as Chairman, other Principal Officers, Deans of School, All Heads of Academic Departments, Chief Lecturers, Dean, Students Affairs, Coordinating Directors and the Academic Secretary.
vii. Committee of Deans and Principal Officers (CDPO)
The Committee is responsible for policies and decisions on junior staff matters and preliminary consideration of senior staff matters before presentation to the Governing Council.
viii. Central Administration
The Central Administration is headed by the Chief Executive, the Provost, who is also the Academic Head of the Institution. He is assisted by other Principal Officers; Registrar, Deputy Provost (Administration), Deputy Provost (Academics), College Librarian and the College Bursar.

As the tenure of the two Deputy Provost of Niger State College of Education expires on the. The College Governing Council approved the appointment of Dr Bala Shehu Okuroro as Deputy Provost Academics on 31st of December, 2019. Dr Bala was born in the 60’s and attended L.E.A. primary school Minna, Nasarawa Teacher’s college Kainji, Government Teacher’s college Minna, college of education Minna, University of Calabar and Federal University of Technology Minna. He is seasoned Teacher who earned his PhD in Educational Technology from FUT Minna. A chief lecturer from the department of curriculum and instructional Technology. He has held different position, served at different committee and received different Awards both within the college and outside. Dr Bala has published many articles in reputable journals and contributed chapters in several books. He is an astute educator and an experienced Teacher.
Dr Zulaihat Abdulhamid was born in Zaria. She attended L.E.A Primary School T/Wada Zaria and G.G.S.S Kawo Kaduna for her primary and secondary education. She graduated from A.B.U Zaria with B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry. She also attended the Federal University of technology Minna for MTech degree in Analytical Chemistry and a postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). She was awarded a PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry from A.B.U Zaria in 2016.
She was employed into the services of Niger State College of Education, Minna in 1990 as an assistant lecturer where she rose to the position of Chief lecturer in 2017. She has served the college in many positions like Head of department of Integrated Science, Deputy Dean School of Sciences and as the Coordinating Director Pre-NCE and Remedial Studies. In December, 2019 she was appointed as the Deputy Provost (Administration) of the College. She attended many International trainings in the UK, Japan, Malaysia and Kenya. She also has many academic publications.
She is married to Professor Kasim U. Isah of Department of Physics, Federal University of Technology Minna. She is blessed with four children
Mrs. Hadiza Kolo was born on January 20″’ 1977. She is from Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State. She had her early education at Model Islamic Primary School, Minna between1983 – 1988 and Federal Government College, Minna from 1989 – 1994. She proceeded to Bayero University Kano where she obtained B.A in Mass Communication in 2002 and Masters in Public Administration from Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) in 2013. She joined the services of College of Education in 2006 and worked in different units of the administration of the College.
Before joining the College she worked as an Information Officer, Ministry of Information and Culture, Niger State from 2003 – 2005 and Government House Press Centre between 2002-2003.
Kolo Emmanuel Sunday was born on May 10th 1964. He started his early education in Langbafu Primary School, Doko between 1971 – 1978 and
Government Teachers’ College, Doko from 1978 – 1983. He proceeded to Niger State College of Education between 1984 – 1987 where he had the
Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), University of Calabar from 1989 – 1991 and Federal University of Technology, Minna from 1997 – 2000 where he had M.Tech (Animal Production). He joined the services of Niger State College of Education in 1996 and rose to the position of a Chief Lecturer. He has held several positions which include School Examination Officer, Poultry Farm Manager, Member, College Academic Board, Acting Academic Secretary, Secretary, College Central Monitoring Committee etc.
